Job title: Datacentre Technician
Role Summary: Operate on a rotating 24/7 shift to support Oracle Cloud Infrastructure data centre operations, handling hardware installation, maintenance, fault diagnosis, structured cabling, and systems administration on Linux/Windows platforms.
Expactations: Deliver technical solutions within SLA, collaborate cross‑functionally, maintain safety protocols, keep skills current, and travel to on‑premises sites as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support 7am‑3pm and 3pm‑11pm shifts for continuous datacentre operations.
- Serve as the primary hardware liaison among networking, compute, compliance, and business operations teams.
- Diagnose and repair server hardware at the board level, performing break‑fix operations in line with SLA requirements.
- Plan, commission, and manage rack configurations and new white space deployments with proper airflow containment.
- Install, loom, terminate, and test structured fibre and copper cabling.
- Administer Linux and/or Windows servers: OS installs, core service configuration (SSH, Telnet, RDP, FTP, NFS, DNS, DHCP).
- Apply networking fundamentals (DNS, TCP/IP, DHCP, basic troubleshooting) and support hardware concepts (RAID, SAN, x86, SCSI, FC, iLO).
- Adhere to health & safety procedures and datacentre best practices.
- Participate in multi‑disciplinary teamwork, ensuring minimal friction and timely resolution of incidents.
- Conduct on‑premise visits to customer sites when required.
Required Skills:
- Minimum 2 years data centre experience handling hardware, rack management, and airflow control.
- Proficient in structured cabling (looming, termination, testing) for fibre and copper.
- Strong Linux/Windows server administration skills and familiarity with core OS services.
- Solid understanding of hardware repair, diagnosis, and break‑fix (RAID, SAN, x86, SCSI, FC, Ethernet, iLO).
- Basic networking knowledge (DNS, TCP/IP, DHCP, RDP).
- Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and teamwork abilities under SLA pressure.
- Adaptability to a multi‑disciplinary environment and rotating shift schedule.
- Continuous learning mindset for emerging datacentre technologies.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
- Certifications highly regarded: CompTIA A+, Network+, Server+, Linux Essentials, or equivalent.
