Job Description
Job title: Accreditations, Compliance and Data Protection Officer Role Summary: Lead the organisation’s compliance framework, managing regulatory oversight, accreditation maintenance, data protection governance, and internal policy development. Provide strategic guidance to risk and compliance senior directors, the MLRO, and the board on emerging risks and corrective actions. Expectation: - Deliver full compliance coverage across AML, SRA investigations, data protection, accreditations and policy management. - Act as primary liaison with external regulators, assessors and certification bodies. - Execute decisive escalation of risk matters to senior governance bodies. - Maintain professional knowledge of evolving legislation and industry best practices. Key Responsibilities: - Develop, update and enforce AML policies, including CDD, SOF and suspicious activity reporting; deputise for the MLRO where required. - Serve as Data Protection Officer: manage ICO correspondence, oversee DSAR handling, keep data protection policies current. - Safeguard and renew Lexcel, CQS, ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 accreditations; coordinate external audits and internal readiness. - Regularly review and enhance company policies, procedures, systems and manuals to align with legal, regulatory and professional standards. - Maintain ISO manuals and information‑security documentation. - Coordinate annual Practising Certificate renewal for staff. - Advise COLP, COFA and the board on accreditation and compliance risks, recommending corrective actions. - Support on special compliance projects and investigative work as requested by directors. - Collaborate with HR to ensure relevant compliance training is delivered and recorded. Required Skills: - Strong understanding of UK regulatory environment (SRA, FCA, GDPR/ICO, AML, ISO/ISO). - Proven experience in managing compliance frameworks and certifications. - Expertise in data protection governance and incident management. - Excellent written and verbal communication, stakeholder engagement, and advisory capabilities. - Project management skills, ability to drive cross‑functional initiatives. - Analytical mindset with competency in risk assessment and mitigation. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, Information Systems or related field. - Professional certifications: * ISO 27001 Lead Implementer or Lead Auditor * ISO 9001 Lead Auditor * AML/CTF practitioner certification (e.g., ULSM/ACAMS) * Information Governance or Data Protection qualification (e.g., ICO Certified Data Protection Officer) * CQS accredited practice (preferred).
