Desktop Support Engineer
Job Description
Job Title: Desktop Support Engineer Role Summary: Deliver on‑site and remote technical support for desktop, mobile, and peripheral devices, ensuring rapid resolution of hardware, software, and basic networking issues. Act as the primary customer‑facing point, maintaining high service standards, accurate ticket records, and collaborating closely with remote IT teams to implement ITIL best practices. Expectations: - 3‑month contract within UK IR35; full‑time onsite presence required. - Must clear an Enhanced DBS check; no work‑visa sponsorship available. - Support users across multiple locations, managing a range of devices (laptops, Chromebooks, tablets). Key Responsibilities: - Provide maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair for laptops, Chromebooks, tablets, printers, scanners, interactive screens, and AV equipment. - Diagnose and resolve wired and wireless networking issues. - Deploy and image Microsoft and Apple devices using standard tools. - Support Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace applications. - Record, track, and manage service requests in a ticketing system (e.g., ServiceNow). - Escalate complex issues to senior support staff and liaise with remote IT teams. - Contribute to continuous improvement of support processes and ITIL implementation. Required Skills: - Hands‑on experience with desktop, mobile, and peripheral device support. - Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware/software issues on Windows and macOS platforms. - Basic knowledge of networking fundamentals (wired/wireless). - Familiarity with image deployment tools for Microsoft and Apple devices. - Operational knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace. - IT service desk experience (ticketing systems preferred). - Excellent customer‑service orientation, communication and prioritisation skills. - Ability to research, diagnose, and decide when to escalare problems. Required Education & Certifications: - CompTIA A+ or equivalent IT qualification. - Experience or training aligned with ITIL service‑management practices is advantageous.
