Job Description
Job title: Summer Intern – Fine Art & Luxury Role Summary: 10‑week full‑time, paid internship providing hands‑on experience in Sotheby’s auction environment. Interns join a specific department, collaborate on projects, participate in mentorship and speaker series, and culminate with a capstone presentation to senior leadership. Expectations: • Commit to full onsite attendance for the entire 10‑week period. • Demonstrate a strong academic record, 3.2+ GPA, and an adaptive, multi‑tasking mindset. • Engage actively with peers, mentors, and senior managers; contribute meaningfully to team projects. • Submit required writing samples (essay on Sotheby’s role and, for Global Fine Art applicants, an art‑focused essay). Key Responsibilities: • Shadow and assist experienced professionals on department projects. • Attend scheduled speaker series and workshops on culture, operations, and industry trends. • Network with internal teams and external stakeholders through team‑building events and museum tours. • Conduct independent research related to assigned projects and present findings. • Lead or co‑lead the final Capstone project, culminating in a presentation to executives. Required Skills: • Proven written and verbal communication skills (including drafting professional correspondence). • Leadership experience and strong work ethic. • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently. • Passion and curiosity for the fine art or luxury markets. • Availability for the full 10‑week onsite program.
