Job Description
**Job title:** Dosimetrist/Technologist (Progressive Band 5‑6 or Band 6) **Role Summary:** Provide advanced radiotherapy planning, mould-room positioning, brachytherapy support and linear‑accelerator run‑ups to ensure safe, accurate patient treatment. Work collaboratively with clinical scientists, oncologists, radiographers and engineers, and progress toward site‑specialty status under Band 7 line management. **Expectations:** * Operate under a Band 7 dosimetrist line manager. * Cover scheduled shifts (07:00 – 20:00 Mon‑Fri) and respond flexibly to service demands. * Manage own workload, maintain high accuracy and focus over extended periods. * Demonstrate professionalism and commitment to continuous learning. **Key Responsibilities:** * Deliver patient‑specific treatment planning for external beam and brachytherapy cases. * Perform patient positioning and mould‑room tasks for custom immobilisation devices. * Run‐ups and procedures on linear accelerators (PSD). * Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to optimise treatment delivery. * Maintain documentation, audit records and quality‐assurance checks. * Participate in continuous professional development and site‑specialty training. **Required Skills:** * Clinical radiotherapy treatment planning expertise. * Mould‑room or brachytherapy experience. * Proficiency in linear‑accelerator operation and run‑ups. * Strong attention to detail, precision and sustained concentration. * Self‑management of clinical workload. * Ability to travel between centres and work unsocial hours if required. **Required Education & Certifications:** * BSc in a science‑based subject, Therapeutic Radiography or equivalent. * State Registration as a Therapeutic Radiographer (or eligibility for Voluntary Register as Radiotherapy Physics Technologist). * Professional knowledge of anatomy, physiology, radiation interactions and advanced radiotherapy techniques.
