**Job Title:**
Group Safety Analyst
**Role Summary:**
Provide strategic and tactical safer‑custody intelligence analysis across the prison group, develop and maintain data‑analysis tools, and deliver high‑quality statistical reports to support senior management decision‑making on violence reduction, self‑harm, and related safety risks.
**Expectations:**
- Deliver accurate, timely data analysis and intelligence to inform the Prison Group Director and Senior Management.
- Ensure consistency and quality of safer‑custody information across establishments.
- Maintain confidentiality, integrity, and availability of all data.
- Support and coach establishment‑based Safer Custody Analysts.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Analyse complex data sets (e.g., security incidents, substance misuse, knife and gang‑related crime) to identify trends, causes, and risk factors.
- Design, operate, and update reporting systems, databases, and analytical tools for routine and ad‑hoc reports.
- Produce strategic reports with narrative, graphical, and statistical components for senior leadership.
- Provide briefings, guidance, and training to Safer Custody Analysts and non‑analytical staff.
- Participate in establishment safer‑custody meetings; contribute to policy, procedure, and practice development.
- Conduct assurance reviews of local safety documentation (e.g., ACCT, VR paperwork).
- Respond to data requests within defined service level agreements.
**Required Skills:**
- Advanced quantitative and statistical analysis (e.g., SPSS, R, Python, Excel).
- Data visualisation and reporting (Power BI, Tableau, or similar).
- Strong written and verbal communication; ability to present complex findings clearly.
- Knowledge of National Statistics protocols and the 2007 National Statistics Act.
- Understanding of prison safety, violence, self‑harm, and substance‑misuse dynamics.
- Project‑management and stakeholder‑engagement capabilities.
- Attention to data quality, confidentiality, and governance standards.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, Criminology, Public Safety, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Professional certification in data analytics or statistics (e.g., Chartered Statistician, CAP, Google Data Analytics) preferred.
- Relevant experience in safety/intelligence analysis within corrections, criminal justice, or similar high‑security environment.
