Job title: Director of Business Development Role Summary: Senior leadership role focused on driving high-value growth in complex public sector and defence‑adjacent consulting engagements. Combines strategy, solutions and delivery to lead a high‑performing business development team, manage key accounts, and steer end‑to‑end pursuit cycles. Expectations: • Proven record of winning multi‑year, multi‑lot public sector deals. • Ability to lead, coach, and motivate a sales team in a complex, stakeholder‑rich environment. • Strong strategic market development with hands‑on pursuit execution. • Influential presence with senior clients, partners, and internal leaders. • Demonstrated networking and relationship‑building that adds tangible value. Key Responsibilities: - Lead, develop, and inspire a business development team focused on complex multi‑stakeholder opportunities. - Own large portfolios and strategic accounts, particularly major public sector clients. - Design and refine bid strategies, qualification plans, and opportunity pursuit roadmaps. - Collaborate with consulting, delivery, and solutions teams to craft compelling propositions. - Manage the full pursuit lifecycle from market engagement through negotiation to deal closure. - Serve as a credible senior figure to clients, partners, and internal stakeholders, providing clarity and direction. - Balance strategic market development with active pursuit activities to identify future demand drivers. Required Skills: - Leadership and team management in complex, consultative sales environments. - Proven success in securing large public sector contracts. - Strategic thinking coupled with tactical execution of pursuit and qualification processes. - Excellent planning, negotiation, and deal‑closure capabilities. - Strong influence and communication skills at senior levels. - Ability to build and leverage professional networks effectively. - Collaborative mindset with empathy and authority to lead across functional boundaries. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Public Administration, or related discipline. - MBA or comparable advanced degree preferred. - Certifications in sales, business development, or project management (e.g., Certified Sales Professional, PMP) welcome.
