Job Description
**Job Title** Head of Legal and Compliance – EIT Manufacturing **Role Summary** Senior leader responsible for ensuring full compliance with European, national, and association laws across the organisation and its subsidiaries. Provides strategic legal counsel to senior management, oversees the Legal & Compliance team, and drives governance, risk, procurement, and contract management processes. **Expectations** - Deliver comprehensive legal and compliance leadership for a pan‑European EU‑funded entity. - Maintain up‑to‑date governance structures and statutory frameworks. - Ensure adherence to Horizon Europe and other EU funding rules, GDPR, AI regulations, and procurement standards. - Build and sustain a high‑performing Legal & Compliance team. **Key Responsibilities** - Lead legal oversight of association governance bodies and subsidiaries. - Advise CEO/COO on legal matters, by‑law compliance, and strategic decisions. - Develop, implement, and continuously improve compliance frameworks, including risk‑based audits and internal control testing. - Manage GDPR compliance, data‑protection matters, and act as primary contact for related issues. - Oversee procurement activities, tendering, and supplier contract negotiations in line with EU institutional regulations. - Draft, review, negotiate MoUs, NDAs, partnership agreements, service contracts, and equity instruments (SAFE). - Provide legal support for funded projects, financial sustainability mechanisms, and reporting requirements. - Coordinate with external counsel (IP, tax, corporate, regulatory) and internal stakeholders. - Lead audit planning, risk assessments, and compliance reviews. - Manage team performance, development, and resource allocation. **Required Skills** - Extensive experience in legal and compliance management within international or EU‑funded contexts. - Deep knowledge of European law, EU institutional frameworks, and French corporate/association law. - Expertise in contractual European law, procurement, and grant agreements. - Proficiency in GDPR and data‑protection compliance. - Strong leadership, team‑management, and communication skills. - Ability to conduct risk‑based audits and manage compliance tools. - Fluency in English; working knowledge of French is a plus. **Required Education & Certifications** - Qualified lawyer (e.g., LLB, JD, or equivalent). - Minimum 10 years of progressive legal and compliance experience. - Professional certification in compliance (e.g., CCA, CISSP) preferred.
