Job Title: Data Architect – Contract
Role Summary:
Lead the design, implementation, and governance of enterprise‑grade data platforms on AWS and/or Azure to support business and analytical requirements. Provide technical direction to cross‑functional teams, ensuring scalable, secure, and high‑performing data solutions.
Expectations:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in data architecture or senior data engineering roles with proven architecture ownership.
- Demonstrated success in cloud data projects (AWS Redshift, Glue, S3, Lake Formation; Azure Synapse, Data Factory, Lake, Purview).
- Ability to translate stakeholder requirements into robust, scalable data solutions.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration across business, security, and engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and own the data architecture strategy aligned with enterprise principles.
- Design end‑to‑end cloud data platforms covering ingestion, storage, transformation, and consumption layers.
- Implement data modeling, metadata management, and governance frameworks to ensure quality and consistency.
- Provide technical leadership to data engineers, analysts, and developers; conduct architecture reviews and PoCs.
- Establish best practices for data security, lineage, and compliance (e.g., GDPR).
- Optimize performance of data pipelines and models; support CI/CD and DevOps for data platform delivery.
Required Skills:
- Deep knowledge of AWS (Redshift, Glue, S3, Lake Formation) or Azure (Synapse, Data Factory, Data Lake, Purview).
- Experience building data lakes, warehouses, and real‑time streaming solutions.
- Proficiency in dimensional modeling, Data Vault, ER modeling, and data modeling tools.
- Hands‑on ETL/ELT orchestration experience (e.g., Apache Airflow, Azure Data Factory).
- Strong SQL and Python (PySpark or equivalent); ability to develop complex transformations.
- Understanding of data governance, cataloging, and lineage (e.g., Glue Catalog, Purview).
- Familiarity with DevOps practices for data platforms (CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments).
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
- Preferred certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty, Azure Data Engineer Associate, or equivalent.
