Software Engineer – New Grad, Distributed Data Systems
Role Summary
New graduate software engineer responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing core components of a distributed data platform. Work on query compilation, distributed execution, vectorized engines, data security, resource and transaction coordination, storage structures, and automated physical optimization.
Expectations
- Graduate in fall 2025 or spring 2026 with a B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Proficient in a general‑purpose language (Java or C++).
- Strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, and OOP principles.
- Passion for database, storage, distributed systems, language design, or performance engineering.
- Experience owning end‑to‑end projects from design through delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop query compilation and optimization modules.
- Implement distributed query execution, scheduling, and vectorized execution engines.
- Build and maintain data security, resource management, and transaction coordination components.
- Design efficient storage formats, indexes, and encoding schemes.
- Automate physical data optimization and manage data plane storage.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate improvements into the platform.
Required Skills
- Programming in Java or C++ (proficiency).
- Deep knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and OOP.
- Understanding of distributed systems concepts (consensus, fault tolerance, scalability).
- Database system internals (SQL parsing, execution plans, storage engine basics).
- Performance tuning and optimisation techniques.

- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
Required Education & Certifications
