Job Description
**Job Title** Mechanical Engineer (Upskill to PSV) **Role Summary** Provide day‑to‑day engineering support in a transit garage, learning and progressing to a PSV engineer role. Ensure vehicle repairs are performed to high standards, maintain safety compliance, and support operational staff and drivers. **Expectations** - Complete an IMI PSV repair accreditation within 12 months. - Protect the Company Operator Licence at all times. - Deliver repairs safely, meeting health & safety directives. - Prioritise workload, adapt to changing priorities, and work effectively within a team. **Key Responsibilities** - Attend internal and external training for PSV accreditation. - Respond to telephone and in‑person issues from service delivery, operations, and drivers. - Enter vehicle breakdowns, faults, and job cards into the Electronic Vehicle Management System (or manual records). - Complete wheel‑nut checks and maintain running repair records. - Use basic diagnostic equipment and identify required spares, placing orders promptly. - Notify management of additional faults or repair needs. - Review and understand technical bulletins. - Maintain clean and organised work areas. - Build effective relationships with drivers, operations staff, and other engineers. - Report technical issues to Engineering or Technical Manager. **Required Skills** - Sound mechanical and electrical knowledge. - Ability to prioritise and adjust workload quickly. - Strong verbal and written communication, including effective listening and questioning. - Team‑orientated, able to motivate others and promote shared values. - Problem‑solving and customer‑focus skills. - Valid full driving licence. **Required Education & Certifications** - NVQ or equivalent qualification in Light Vehicle Repair (MasterTech preferred). - IMI accreditation in PSV repair (to be attained during employment).
