Job Description
Job title: Arctic Initiative Lead Role Summary: Lead the design, delivery and adaptive evolution of a multimillion‑DFA grant from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, focusing on long‑term Fauna & Flora engagement in the Arctic. Champion community‑centred co‑design of a platform that amplifies Arctic voices in global policy, finance and conservation debates. Expectations: - Deliver the Arctic Initiative in line with agreed outcomes and funding. - Develop a strategic, phased approach that adapts to learning and informs future engagement. - Represent Fauna & Flora at national and international forums, building credibility with senior policy makers and community leaders. - Build, lead and mentor a small, high‑performing team within a matrix‑structured NGO. Key Responsibilities: 1. Project Leadership – Oversee planning, execution, monitoring and reporting of the grant, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and deadlines. 2. Community Voice Platform – Design and manage a co‑created platform that elevates Arctic community perspectives in policy and finance discussions. 3. Stakeholder Engagement – Forge and maintain relationships with Arctic communities, policy makers, NGOs and international bodies. 4. Strategic Evolution – Update project strategy based on phased learnings and advised future opportunities. 5. Team Development – Recruit, mentor and develop a small, cross‑functional team, fostering collaboration and empowerment. 6. Communication – Articulate project impact and findings to internal and external audiences; represent the organisation at meetings and conferences. Required Skills: - Proven experience in Arctic political, governance or community engagement contexts. - Strong leadership with a collaborative, learning‑focused style. - Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects in an international NGO environment, including matrix structures. - Excellent communication, negotiation and public‑speaking skills. - People‑management proficiency and experience building high‑performing teams. - Ability to analyse data, synthesize insights and translate them into actionable strategy. - Proficiency in project management tools and stakeholder‑management platforms. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in International Relations, Environmental Policy, Indigenous Studies, Development Studies or a related field. - PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent project‑management certification preferred.
