Job title: Jira SME – SC Cleared – Inside IR35
Role Summary:
Senior subject‑matter expert for Jira Service Management, Jira Software and Confluence, providing design, configuration, support, and training to a defence‑focused organisation. Works onsite 5 days a week, maintaining active SC clearance throughout the engagement.
Expectations:
- Operate under SC clearance requirements.
- Deliver expert guidance on ITSM practices (Incident, Problem, Change, Request).
- Apply ITIL 4, Agile and DevOps principles.
- Develop and maintain JSM Automations, Workflows, Insight Assets and JQL queries.
- Integrate scripting and automation tools (PowerShell, Python, REST APIs).
- Act as the primary point of contact for Jira‑related operational issues and enhancements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Configure and optimise Jira Service Management, Jira Software, and Confluence instances for defence projects.
- Design and implement ITSM processes and associated workflow automation.
- Create and maintain JQL queries, dashboards and reports.
- Develop and maintain asset schemas (Insight) and automation scripts.
- Lead training sessions and create documentation for end‑users and administrators.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex Jira incidents and performance issues.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (DevOps, ITSM, governance) to align solutions with organisational frameworks.
- Ensure compliance with data security, audit and incident management standards.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and knowledge sharing within the team.
Required Skills:
- Active SC clearance with defence system experience.
- Proven expertise in Jira Service Management, Jira Software and Confluence.
- Strong background in ITSM (Incident, Problem, Change, Request) and asset management.
- Advanced knowledge of JSM Automations, Workflows, and Insight Assets.
- Proficient in Jira Query Language (JQL).
- Familiarity with ITIL 4, Agile, and DevOps frameworks.
- Experience scripting/automation (PowerShell, Python, REST APIs).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Degree or equivalent experience in IT, Computer Science, or related field (preferred).
- Professional certifications (e.g., Atlassian Certified Administrator, ITIL 4 Foundation, or equivalent).
- Valid SC clearance.
