Job Description
Job title: Finance Manager – Part Time Role Summary: Part‑time finance professional (15 hrs per week) responsible for maintaining the financial health of a community‑benefit society. Oversees budgeting, financial control, reporting, forecasting, investment appraisal, payroll and grant management, and ensures regulatory compliance. Expactations: • Results‑oriented analytical thinker • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills • Excellent communicator who translates complex data into clear reports • Proactive, collaborative, and self‑directed in a flexible environment Key Responsibilities - Develop and manage annual budgets; monitor spend, cash flow, and variances. - Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements and reports for senior leadership and board review. - Analyse performance, identify trends, risks, and provide forecasts and insights for strategic decisions. - Oversee bookkeeping, payroll processing, and third‑party accounting services. - Conduct due‑diligence, prepare investment proposals and share offers, and support finance securing. - Manage grant acquisition, reporting, and claim processes. - Ensure compliance with HMRC, FCA, and other financial regulations. - Perform company risk assessments and advise on insurance coverage and risk‑management policies. Required Skills - Proficient in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting. - Knowledge of UK accounting standards, HMRC, FCA, and regulatory requirements. - Strong organisational, prioritisation and time‑management abilities. - Effective written and verbal communication. - Ability to interpret and present complex financial information clearly. - Experience or familiarity with grant management. - Comfortable with remote/part‑time work and high self‑direction. Required Education & Certifications - Chartered Accountant (ACA/CAM) or Chartered Management Accountant (CMA) preferred. - Alternatively, AAT qualification with managerial accounting experience, or proven equivalent experience. - Post‑qualification experience (PQE) in management accounting highly regarded.
