Job Description
**Job Title** Automation Engineer **Role Summary** Design, maintain, and upgrade software for advanced automated production systems in the aluminum manufacturing sector. Lead projects to improve process efficiency, ensuring reliable operation and adherence to safety and cybersecurity standards. **Expectations** - Uphold occupational health & safety and cybersecurity requirements. - Deliver solutions that reduce downtime and enhance equipment reliability. - Maintain comprehensive engineering documentation and system schematics. **Key Responsibilities** - Preventative and corrective maintenance of automated systems. - Develop, test, and deploy new automation software and hardware configurations. - Analyze process workflows and design automation solutions to optimize throughput. - Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize and schedule automation projects. - Update engineering drawings and documentation for all changes and implementations. - Contribute to the creation and refinement of programming standards and best practices. **Required Skills** - Proficiency with Siemens PCS‑7 and programming languages CFC, SFC, SCL. - Experience with ABB automation products. - Knowledge of KUKA KRL and robot programming. - Strong problem‑solving and analytical abilities. - Ability to work under pressure and adapt to continuous change. - Excellent teamwork and communication skills. - Bilingual proficiency in French and English (oral and written). **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or Automated Production Engineering. - Minimum 3 years of professional experience in industrial automation. - Active membership with the Order of Engineers of Quebec (OIQ). - Valid Class 5 driver’s licence.
