Job Description
**Job Title:** Electrical, Controls & Instrumentation Engineer (EC&I Engineer) **Role Summary:** Design, develop, and support electrical, power distribution, control logic, instrumentation, and safety interlocks for high‑integrity industrial equipment, primarily in regulated environments such as nuclear, defense, oil & gas, and chemical plants. Lead system specification, wiring design, PLC/HMI programming, and validation through factory acceptance testing while ensuring compliance with all relevant codes and safety standards. **Expectations:** - 5+ years EC&I experience in a regulated industry (nuclear, defense, oil & gas, chemical). - Professional Engineer license or actively pursuing licensure. - Proven PLC programming (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens) and HMI development. - Hands‑on manufacturing and commissioning support. - Strong collaboration with mechanical, process, and fabrication teams. - Ability to travel to customer sites as required. **Key Responsibilities:** - Design control system architecture: PLCs, HMIs, safety‑rated instrumentation and interlock logic. - Create wiring diagrams, panel layouts, loop diagrams, and power distribution plans (switchgear, MCCs). - Specify and select instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow, level) for high‑integrity monitoring. - Program and configure PLCs and HMIs; develop test protocols and conduct factory acceptance testing. - Support manufacturing, assembly, and validation of electrical and control subsystems (hydraulics, pneumatics, VFDs, communication networks). - Ensure design compliance with NFPA 70, IEC 61511, ISA, IEEE, DOE/NRC guidelines, and ASME NQA‑1. - Prepare documentation for nuclear site approvals, QA reviews, and system turnover. - Verify and validate safety‑related programs, firmware, and hardware. - Provide technical support to internal teams and external customers. **Required Skills:** - Electrical and controls engineering design experience. - PLC programming (Rockwell, Siemens) and HMI configuration. - Fieldbus protocols: Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP. - CAD for electrical design (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN). - Power distribution and switchgear design. - Instrumentation selection and integration. - Knowledge of safety systems and fail‑safe design. - Excellent written and verbal communication. - Ability to work in office, shop, and outdoor testing environments; occasional travel. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field. - Minimum 5 years EC&I experience in a regulated industry. - Professional Engineer license or enrollment toward licensure. - Knowledge of DOE/NRC safety guidance and ASME NQA‑1 (preferred).
