Electrical, Controls & Instrumentation Engineer (EC&I Engineer)
**Role Summary:**
Design, develop, and support electrical, power distribution, control logic, instrumentation, and safety interlocks for high‑integrity industrial equipment, primarily in regulated environments such as nuclear, defense, oil & gas, and chemical plants. Lead system specification, wiring design, PLC/HMI programming, and validation through factory acceptance testing while ensuring compliance with all relevant codes and safety standards.
**Expectations:**
- 5+ years EC&I experience in a regulated industry (nuclear, defense, oil & gas, chemical).
- Professional Engineer license or actively pursuing licensure.
- Proven PLC programming (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens) and HMI development.
- Hands‑on manufacturing and commissioning support.
- Strong collaboration with mechanical, process, and fabrication teams.
- Ability to travel to customer sites as required.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Design control system architecture: PLCs, HMIs, safety‑rated instrumentation and interlock logic.
- Create wiring diagrams, panel layouts, loop diagrams, and power distribution plans (switchgear, MCCs).
- Specify and select instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow, level) for high‑integrity monitoring.
- Program and configure PLCs and HMIs; develop test protocols and conduct factory acceptance testing.
- Support manufacturing, assembly, and validation of electrical and control subsystems (hydraulics, pneumatics, VFDs, communication networks).
- Ensure design compliance with NFPA 70, IEC 61511, ISA, IEEE, DOE/NRC guidelines, and ASME NQA‑1.
- Prepare documentation for nuclear site approvals, QA reviews, and system turnover.
- Verify and validate safety‑related programs, firmware, and hardware.
- Provide technical support to internal teams and external customers.

- Electrical and controls engineering design experience.
- PLC programming (Rockwell, Siemens) and HMI configuration.
- Fieldbus protocols: Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP.
- CAD for electrical design (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).
- Power distribution and switchgear design.
- Instrumentation selection and integration.
- Knowledge of safety systems and fail‑safe design.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work in office, shop, and outdoor testing environments; occasional travel.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years EC&I experience in a regulated industry.
- Professional Engineer license or enrollment toward licensure.
- Knowledge of DOE/NRC safety guidance and ASME NQA‑1 (preferred).
