Job Description
Job title: Financial Controller Role Summary: Oversee the finance function for a multi‑entity automotive group, ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting, cash‑flow forecasting, and statutory compliance while driving process improvements across all entities. Expactations: Deliver high‑quality management information and insight to senior leadership, maintain robust internal controls, and optimise accounting systems to support rapid group expansion. Key Responsibilities: - Prepare weekly, monthly and ad‑hoc management information (KPI dashboards, variance analysis, commentary). - Own month‑end close, journal entry preparation, and balance‑sheet reconciliations across all entities. - Manage intercompany entries, reconciliations and support the preparation of year‑end statutory accounts with external advisors. - Forecast cash flow, monitor working capital and produce group budgeting and forecast models. - Prepare and submit VAT returns, manage HMRC submissions, and ensure compliance with UK accounting standards. - Audit and refine accounting processes, controls and system enhancements, including automation initiatives. - Act as the primary finance liaison across the group’s business units (auction, fleet, subscription, assets, software). Required Skills: - CIMA or equivalent chartered qualification. - Strong commercial and operational finance background; experience in multi‑entity or SME accounting. - Advanced Excel, Sage accounting software proficiency, and solid technical accounting expertise. - Ability to translate data into actionable insight and communicate effectively with senior stakeholders. - Proactive, solutions‑oriented mindset, comfortable managing competing priorities. Required Education & Certifications: - CIMA qualification (or equivalent chartered accounting qualification). - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
