**Job Title**
Engineer – Researcher, Multiphase Flow Modeling
**Role Summary**
Develop and validate computational models for multiphase flow, chem‑transport coupling, and population balances to support the design and scale‑up of hydrometallurgical processes for strategic metal separation and purification. Work closely with experimental teams to acquire key data, contribute to pilot‑scale qualification, and produce technical documentation, publications, patents, and client proposals.
**Expectations**
- Deliver robust, predictive multiphase models for large‑scale process design.
- Design and implement advanced experimental acquisitions in collaboration with instrumentation staff.
- Produce technical reports, scientific papers, patents, and presentation materials for clients and conferences.
- Draft technical proposals and detailed research project bids for funding agencies (e.g., ANR, Horizon Europe).
- Supervise technicians, student interns, and temporary staff.
**Key Responsibilities**
1. Build and validate models of multiphase flows, chemistry‑transport coupling, and population balances for hydrometallurgy unit operations (dissolution, liquid‑liquid extraction, precipitation, distillation).
2. Propose, design, and execute high‑level experimental data acquisition protocols in collaboration with laboratory instrumentation.
3. Support pilot‑scale qualification activities, including data analysis and model refinement.
4. Write technical progress reports, scientific manuscripts, patent dossiers, and conference presentations.
5. Prepare technical offers for clients and craft detailed research proposals for public and EU funding calls.
6. Mentor and coordinate technicians and temporary personnel (interns, apprentices, PhD students).
7. Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and experimentation teams to integrate model outputs into process optimization.
**Required Skills**
- Strong background in multiphase flow modeling and chemical‑transport simulation.
- Proficiency in programming (Python, MATLAB, C++/FORTRAN) and numerical methods.
- Understanding of hydrometallurgical unit operations and overall process engineering.
- Experience in experimental design, data acquisition, and statistical analysis.
- Scientific communication skills: technical writing, patent drafting, presentation.
- Ability to develop research proposals and technical offers.
- Team orientation and capacity to lead junior staff.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- MSc or PhD (Bac+5 to Bac+8) in Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
- 2–5 years of professional experience (post‑graduate).
- Intermediate proficiency in English.
