**Job Title:**
Robotics Mechanical Engineer (Contract with potential conversion)
**Role Summary:**
Design and develop structural mechanical components for advanced robotic systems, focusing on cost‑effective material selection, manufacturability, tolerance control, and serviceability. Work across concept, prototyping, and production phases, collaborating with cross‑functional engineering teams.
**Expectations:**
- Deliver robust, scalable designs that meet performance, cost, and lifecycle targets.
- Produce accurate 3D CAD models and analysis reports.
- Guide prototypes through validation to mass‑manufacturable solutions.
- Communicate design intent clearly and collaborate with electrical, firmware, controls, and manufacturing engineers.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Define load paths, functional interfaces, and service boundaries for robotic structures.
- Create and iterate parametric 3D CAD assemblies (SolidWorks, NX, Creo, or CATIA).
- Perform static load, stiffness, and basic fatigue analyses to inform material and geometry choices.
- Establish tolerance strategies, applying precision only where critical.
- Develop prototyping plans using CNC machining, additive manufacturing, and modular fixtures.
- Transition validated designs to production‑ready formats (castings, extrusions, sheet metal, composites).
- Incorporate cross‑industry best practices (automotive, aerospace, industrial automation) for vibration, thermal, and reliability challenges.
- Document design decisions, analysis results, and manufacturing guidelines.
**Required Skills:**
- 3+ years designing mechanical systems for robotics/automation in a production or pre‑production environment.
- Advanced proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks, NX, Creo, or CATIA) with parametric modeling.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes: CNC machining, sheet metal, additive manufacturing.
- Understanding of structural analysis fundamentals (static loads, stiffness, basic fatigue).
- Ability to develop tolerance and assembly strategies for serviceability.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills (written and verbal).
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or a closely related field.
- No specific certifications required; relevant professional experience satisfies qualification.
