Job Description
**Job Title:** Lead Engineer – Marine Operations (Alcatraz Cruises) **Role Summary:** Leads the engineering function for Alcatraz vessel operations, ensuring all vessels meet USCG and other safety regulations, overseeing maintenance, repairs, and project execution, while supervising engineering staff and coordinating with crew, vendors, and regulatory agencies. **Expectations:** - Provide hands‑on technical leadership and mentorship to engineers, mechanics, and crew. - Maintain 100% regulatory compliance and safety standards. - Deliver projects on schedule and within budget. - Operate on a flexible shift schedule, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays. **Key Responsibilities:** - Direct routine and preventive maintenance of vessels and facilities. - Design, test, install, and repair marine equipment and systems. - Conduct performance, environmental, and operational studies; prepare detailed drawings and schematics. - Evaluate equipment operation, analyze data, and assess feasibility of proposals. - Generate technical reports for engineering, operations, and senior management. - Coordinate repairs, procure materials, and manage vendor relationships to control costs. - Liaise with vessel captains, landing crews, and regulatory bodies to align schedules, budgets, and safety requirements. - Oversee testing of machinery, alarm systems, and automatic controls; ensure compliance with international regulations. - Schedule overhauls and servicing of HVAC, electrical, water, and sewage systems. - Supervise and train engineering personnel; represent the department in meetings. **Required Skills:** - Extensive hands‑on vessel engineering and maintenance experience. - Strong project management and analytical abilities. - Proficiency in technical documentation, reporting, and basic Windows computer applications. - Excellent communication and customer‑service orientation. - Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams and external contractors. - Flexible availability for varied shift patterns. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience). - HAZWOPER (40‑hour) certification. - HAZMAT certification. - Valid California driver’s license. *All other qualifications are considered preferred but not mandatory.*
