Lead Design Engineer
Job Description
Job title: Lead Design Engineer Role Summary: Lead Aircraft Design Engineer for eVTOL aircraft, focusing on primary and secondary structures (wing, empennage, fuselage). Responsible for design, validation, and documentation of composite and metallic components, ensuring compliance with airworthiness standards and customer specifications. Expectations: Deliver high‑quality design services for prototype eVTOL aircraft, coordinate with systems integration, manage cross‑functional reviews, and produce engineering change notices. Act as technical interface with certification authorities and maintain rigorous compliance with FAA/EASA requirements. Key Responsibilities: - Design and build structural components for prototype eVTOL aircraft (composite & metallic). - Develop, validate, and document model‑based definitions in 3DEXPERIENCE DMU. - Coordinate with Systems Integration teams for routing and structural compatibility. - Lead and participate in technical, gate, and customer reviews. - Prepare engineering drawings, manufacturing documentation, and ECNs. - Ensure compliance with customer and regulatory specifications. - Interface with certification authorities for airworthiness approval. - Mentor junior engineers and maintain high‑quality deliverables. Required Skills: - Strong aircraft design expertise, especially in eVTOL structures. - Proficient in CATIA V5, 3DEXPERIENCE, Composites Design 3 (CPD), Fibresim. - Experience with PLM tools (Windchill) and GD&T, tolerance stack‑up. - Knowledge of composite and metallic materials, manufacturing processes. - Familiarity with FAA/EASA certification processes. - Analytical, problem‑solving, and project management abilities. - Excellent communication, teamwork, and deadline‑management skills. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. - Relevant certifications (e.g., CATIA, CPD) preferred.
