Job Description
**Job Title** Technician II – Security **Role Summary** Responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of security, data, and audio‑visual (AV) systems in commercial settings. Works independently on site, supports project teams, mentors junior technicians, and ensures projects meet safety, quality, and client satisfaction standards. **Expactations** - Complete projects on time and within budget while adhering to safety and quality programs. - Travel to regional job sites and perform on‑call or night‑shift duties as required. - Provide accurate documentation, training, and support to end users. **Key Responsibilities** - Install and service CCTV, alarm, access control, and related security equipment. - Deploy structured cabling (Cat5e/Cat6/fiber), including termination, labeling, testing, and reporting. - Assist in AV infrastructure setup, including rack building and basic audio‑visual equipment installation. - Interpret system diagrams, floor plans, and construction drawings. - Troubleshoot and repair security, data, and AV system issues. - Conduct end‑user training and respond to technical inquiries. - Maintain detailed documentation (OHS checklists, test results, project updates). - Mentor and lead junior technicians on‑site. - Communicate effectively with project teams, clients, and stakeholders. **Required Skills** - 3–5 years of technical experience in electrical or low‑voltage systems. - Proficient in cable pulling, installation, and basic troubleshooting. - Strong communication, attention to detail, and independent work capability. - Valid driver’s licence with a clean abstract. - Ability to work in diverse site conditions and adapt to changing requirements. **Required Education & Certifications** - Post‑secondary training in electronics, telecommunications, or related technical field (preferred). - Vendor certification in low‑voltage cabling or AV systems (e.g., BICSI, Extron, Crestron, CFOT) is an asset. - Experience with security systems, CCTV, alarms, and basic AV installation is preferred.
