Job Description
**Job Title**: Software Engineering Co‑Op **Role Summary**: Collaborate in a Systems Engineering team to develop Python‑based solutions for Digital Twin and Manufacturing Automation. Design web apps, data pipelines, and hardware integrations to capture, visualize, and analyze shop‑floor data on Azure and Databricks. **Expectations**: - Deliver functional, well‑documented code that directly powers manufacturing processes. - Interface seamlessly with cross‑functional stakeholders (engineers, operators, IT). - Maintain high code quality, usability, and maintainability standards. **Key Responsibilities**: - Build Python web applications (Flask/FastAPI/Django) to collect and display shop‑floor data in Azure cloud databases. - Create and maintain Databricks pipelines for trend, performance, and analytics. - Design and implement Raspberry Pi + camera systems for part tracking and operator aid. - Replace legacy automation tools with sustainable Python scripts and API integrations. - Connect shop‑floor data streams to enterprise dashboards and digital twin models. - Produce clear documentation and user interfaces for operators and engineers. **Required Skills**: - Proficient in Python (object‑oriented, automation, data handling). - Experience with Flask, FastAPI, or Django for web development. - Basic SQL/NoSQL database knowledge and familiarity with Azure or comparable cloud services. - Working knowledge of REST APIs for data exchange. - Strong communication and teamwork; ability to work in a hands‑on, cross‑functional environment. - Extra credit: OpenCV, Raspberry Pi, sensor integration, or interest in manufacturing‑related ML. **Required Education & Certifications**: - Current enrollment or degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical/Mechanical/Mechatronics/Robotics Engineering, Biomedical Engineering (Python/Image processing), Industrial & Systems Engineering, Information Systems/IT or related STEM field. - No specific certifications required.
