Job Title: Backend Engineer
Role Summary: Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs in Go that enable cross‑border payments, stablecoin treasury management, and integration with banks, payment processors, and blockchain networks (Stellar, Polygon, Starknet, etc.). Own performance, reliability, and security of critical financial systems in a fast‑moving, founder‑mindset environment.
Expectations:
- 4+ years of backend development experience, preferably in fintech, payments, or blockchain.
- Strong proficiency in Go (or equivalent language with swift ramp‑up to Go).
- Demonstrated ability to architect mission‑critical, transaction‑intensive systems.
- Founder‑like ownership: drive initiatives, tolerate ambiguity, ship rapidly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement core backend services and REST/GraphQL APIs.
- Integrate with banking APIs, payment partners, and blockchain networks for stablecoin, FX, and cross‑border flows.
- Ensure system performance, reliability, uptime, and low latency.
- Collaborate with founders, frontend engineers, and compliance to shepherd features from concept to production.
- Monitor, debug, and optimize production environments; own incident response.
- Shape DevOps practices: CI/CD pipelines, observability, automated testing, and cloud‑native deployment.
- Maintain data integrity in relational databases and enforce security/compliance requirements (encryption, KYC/KYB, audit trails).
Required Skills:
- Go programming language; strong grasp of system, API, and data‑model design.
- Experience with blockchain integration (e.g., Stellar, Polygon, Starknet, Ethereum, Solana).
- SQL and relational database expertise (transactional integrity, normalization).
- Understanding of security and regulatory aspects of financial services (encryption, access controls, KYC/KYB).
- Cloud‑native architecture familiarity (AWS/GCP), containerization, serverless.
- DevOps tools: CI/CD (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI), Terraform, Docker, Prometheus, Grafana or equivalents.
- Event‑driven architecture and distributed systems knowledge is a plus.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- No mandatory certifications required.
