Job Description
**Job Title** Legal Internship (2026) **Role Summary** An in‑house internship for law students (1L or 2L) at a nonpartisan public‑interest organization concentrating on campaign finance, ethics, voting rights, and redistricting. Interns receive close mentorship from senior attorneys and work across litigation, state/local reform, and regulatory advocacy. **Expectations** - Current 1L or 2L (rising 2L/3L) at an accredited U.S. law school. - Strong research, analytical, and written communication skills. - Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment. - Commitment to the organization’s nonpartisan mission. - For summer: at least 10 consecutive weeks of availability in 2026. - For semester: minimum 10 hours per week during the term. **Key Responsibilities** - Draft legal pleadings, motions, and briefs for ongoing and prospective litigation. - Conduct comprehensive legal research and author memoranda on complex issues. - Perform factual investigations pertinent to case development. - Draft regulatory and statutory language for proposed reforms. - Prepare complaints and filings to federal and state regulatory agencies. - Produce advocacy materials: letters, FOIA requests, blog posts, testimony drafts, and other program documents. **Required Skills** - Advanced legal research and writing proficiency. - Drafting of pleadings, briefs, and regulatory submissions. - Analytical reasoning and problem‑solving. - Team collaboration and effective communication. - Attention to detail and adherence to deadlines. **Required Education & Certifications** - Enrollment in an accredited U.S. law school; current 1L or 2L (rising 2L/3L). - No additional certifications required. ---
