Senior Software Engineer - C++

Job Description

Job title: Senior Software Engineer – C++ Role Summary: Design, develop, and maintain high‑performance C++ software for broadcast technology products. Own end‑to‑end feature development, performance optimisations, and technical roadmap contributions within a Linux environment. Expectations: Deliver clean, efficient, maintainable code; lead architecture for new modules; troubleshoot and support production releases; collaborate closely with the product lead and engineering team; proactively research and innovate in DSP and signal processing. Key Responsibilities: - Refactor and enhance existing C++ codebases for reliability and performance. - Design and implement new product features and capabilities. - Own complex technical components from specification through delivery. - Provide production support, debugging, and customer‑facing technical assistance. - Conduct research and development to create IP in DSP, algorithmic development, and next‑generation processing. - Follow best practices for build, validation, testing, and release on Linux. - Integrate with CI/CD pipelines and containerised environments. Required Skills: - Advanced C++ (comprehensive understanding of data types, structures, templates) and C components. - Multi‑threading, synchronization, and performance profiling (GDB, Perf, Valgrind, sanitizers). - Linux development environment proficiency. - Version control (Git, Subversion) and build/validation pipelines. - Scripting in Python and Bash. - API design fundamentals. - Digital Signal Processing fundamentals. - Familiarity with CI tools (e.g., Jenkins), build systems (Autotools, CMake), and containerisation (Docker). - Experience with video/audio formats, codecs, containers, SDI/SMPTE ST 2110. Desirable Skills (not mandatory): - AutoTools, CMake expertise; CI integration. - Docker/container orchestration experience. - Knowledge of DSP algorithms (FIR filters) and ML/AI toolkits (TensorFlow, PyTorch). - Broadcast industry experience. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
