Job Description

**Job title** Financial Accountant **Role Summary** Responsible for accurate maintenance of general ledger entries, analytical review, and financial close processes. Investigates anomalies, prepares statutory returns, handles treasury cash flow monitoring, and supports monthly closings across debtor, creditor, fixed assets, and payroll functions. **Expectations** Provide reliable, technically sound accounting support in a multinational environment. Resolve discrepancies, communicate findings to stakeholders, and maintain compliance with FRS 102, IFRS, and regulatory reporting. Demonstrate initiative to take on broader accounting responsibilities. **Key Responsibilities** - Review, analyse and reconcile general ledger entries; ensure accuracy of automated postings. - Investigate unusual transactions and system anomalies; implement corrective actions. - Support quarterly and year‑end audit reviews with robust explanations. - Prepare statutory returns (Intrastat, CIS, ONS surveys, VAT, EC Sales Lists) and ensure regulatory compliance. - Update daily cashflow forecasts, analyse variances, request treasury transfers, and flag irregularities. - Own assigned sections of the monthly close: - Debtors: control, reconcile balances. - Fixed assets: run monthly controls, validate postings, manage annual register. - Payroll: post bonus accruals, NI charges, reconcile wages and pension balances. - Creditors: record accruals, review expense patterns, challenge fluctuations. - Profit & loss: detailed expense reviews, variance analysis, correct cost allocation. - Prepare and submit VAT returns; validate VAT postings and address exceptions. **Required Skills** - Strong technical knowledge of FRS 102, IFRS, and statutory reporting. - Proficient in SAP FICO (desirable) and advanced MS Excel. - Analytical mindset; adept at investigating and resolving discrepancies. - Effective communication with local and regional teams. - Excellent organisational ability; able to meet tight deadlines under pressure. - Proactive, curious, solution‑driven attitude. **Required Education & Certifications** - Minimum 4 years’ experience in an accounts department, preferably within retail or a multinational organization. - ACCA/ACA (finalist or fully qualified) or equivalent part‑qualified status. ---
