**Job Title**
Director, Software Engineering – Cloud
**Role Summary**
Lead multiple remote and on‑site software development teams that design, develop, and maintain intra‑operative medical device embedded applications, mobile apps, web apps, and cloud infrastructure. Drive Agile best practices, ensure compliance with IEC 62304 and ISO 13485, and manage architecture, budgeting, and resource planning across complex projects.
**Expectations**
- Proven success leading medical device software development in an ISO 13485 regulated environment.
- Ability to manage and mentor large, geographically dispersed teams while maintaining high code quality and process adherence.
- Strong cross‑functional collaboration with marketing, quality, and risk management to meet regulatory and customer requirements.
**Key Responsibilities**
1. Lead and coordinate internal, external, and remote software teams for integration and delivery of embedded, mobile, web, and cloud solutions.
2. Implement Agile methodologies, ensuring alignment with IEC 62304, ISO 13485, and other regulatory standards.
3. Oversee requirements interpretation, architectural decomposition, and design validation to meet system and software requirements.
4. Manage resource planning, budgeting, and staffing across multiple projects, including external/contract developers.
5. Direct code reviews, coding standards enforcement, risk analysis, and mitigation strategies.
6. Collaborate with marketing to capture user needs and with QA to execute V&V protocols.
7. Maintain complete software documentation, change orders, and Design History File throughout the life cycle.
8. Create experimental platforms to evaluate performance of current and anticipated solutions.
9. Travel domestically and internationally up to 15% of the time.
**Required Skills**
- Expertise in software architecture, design, and coding across Windows, Linux, C#, .NET, C++, Azure Cloud Services, and embedded systems.
- Proficiency with Agile tools (JIRA, Azure DevOps), CI/CD pipelines, version control, and repository management.
- Deep understanding of SW/FW/HW interactions, Azure Cloud database architectures, and cloud integration.
- Experience managing remote development teams and external contract resources.
- Strong documentation, record‑keeping, prioritization, and resource management abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, stakeholder engagement, and teamwork facilitation.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering preferred.
- 8–12+ years of medical device software experience (or equivalent).
- 5–8+ years of software management or leadership experience.
