Job Description: **Job title:** Senior Backend Engineer **Role Summary:** Lead the design, implementation, and scaling of a high‑availability backend for a SaaS developer tools platform. Drive improvements to uptime monitoring, real‑time status pages, and infrastructure observability while ensuring reliability and performance through distributed systems engineering on AWS and on‑prem resources. **Expectations:** - Produce reliable, production‑grade code in a fast‑moving, remote‑first environment. - Own and evolve core backend services, contributing to overall product strategy. - Participate in on‑call rotation, maintaining 24/7 service availability. **Key Responsibilities:** - Own and extend the uptime monitoring platform, adding features that let customers observe and protect critical infrastructure at scale. - Deploy and manage a ClickHouse instance for check‑run logs, designing and implementing APIs that enable customer reporting. - Collaborate with customers and infra teams to diagnose and fix bugs affecting private‑location checks. - Enhance the status page product to meet industry‑leading standards of reliability, transparency, and real‑time communication. - Scale backend services to handle growing traffic, working closely with DevOps and infrastructure teams. - Mentor peers, write clear documentation, and advocate for a clean, maintainable codebase. **Required Skills:** - 5+ years of professional backend development in a SaaS environment. - Strong experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and Hapi.js; Go experience is a plus. - Proven ability to build distributed systems on AWS and on‑prem servers. - Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and observing improvements (OpenTelemetry, ClickHouse). - Comfortable with async, remote collaboration and clear English communication. - Self‑motivated, autonomous, and quick to learn new technologies. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience). ---
