**Job Title**
Project Engineer Intern – Fastener Management & Process Optimization
**Role Summary**
Support the engineering team in defining, standardising, and optimising fastener solutions for new machine developments, retrofits, and service activities. Coordinate data rationalisation, procurement processes, and logistics strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
**Expectations**
- 6‑12 month internship in a manufacturing engineering environment.
- Capable of independent project ownership while collaborating with cross‑functional teams (design, procurement, logistics).
- Deliver actionable insights and well‑documented solutions that align with global quality and cost standards.
**Key Responsibilities**
1. Analyse current fastener usage for new machines, retrofits, and service/PDR functions.
2. Standardise design specifications and technical requirements across product families.
3. Define and document business rules for fastener selection.
4. Automate component selection logic in CATIA using scripting/parametric modelling.
5. Cleanse and codify the fastener data base, migrating legacy codes to the Machining system.
6. Establish procurement and logistics policies (labels, codes, designations).
7. Manage inventory, calculate optimal batch sizes, and evaluate cost‑saving opportunities.
8. Study logistics options (direct purchase, in‑line procurement, etc.).
9. Identify preferred suppliers, conduct competitive bidding, and negotiate terms.
10. Prepare a multi‑year framework contract (if applicable).
11. Develop and monitor KPIs for performance tracking and process improvement.
**Required Skills**
- Project management fundamentals (scope, schedule, risk, budget).
- Mechanical design and fastener knowledge (materials, standards, torque/device selection).
- Proficiency in CATIA (modeling, automation, scripting).
- Data management and database hygiene (SQL, Excel, or equivalent).
- Procurement fundamentals and supplier negotiation techniques.
- Supply chain / logistics basics (stock control, batch optimisation).
- Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Final‑year or graduated student in an engineering discipline (Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Product Design, or a related field).
- Coursework or experience in mechanical design, CAD, procurement, and production planning.
