Job Title: Thermal Processing Intern Role Summary: Support the Operations team in developing, testing, and optimizing heat‑treatment processes and metallurgical investigations, while generating data‑driven insights and documentation to enhance process control and quality. Expectations: - Work independently and collaboratively to meet project milestones. - Maintain high standards of accuracy, safety, and quality. - Communicate findings clearly in written reports and verbal presentations. - Prioritize multiple tasks and manage time effectively. Key Responsibilities: - Design and evaluate new low‑pressure carburizing recipes in the LPC furnace. - Conduct load verification tests on production samples using standard metallurgical lab equipment. - Perform depth measurements, microstructure rating, and other quantitative assessments. - Implement and document system accuracy tests (SAT) for key equipment. - Troubleshoot quality and process issues, providing root‑cause analysis. - Develop work instructions for induction harden, salt bath, and carburizing processes. - Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives. Required Skills: - Strong analytical and data‑analysis capabilities (Excel, statistical tools). - Proficiency in written and verbal communication. - Problem‑solving, critical thinking, and creative resourcefulness. - Organizational and time‑management skills. - Ability to work independently and as part of a cross‑functional team. Required Education & Certifications: - Current enrollment in a bachelor’s or advanced degree program in Materials Science & Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related field. - Junior, senior, or master's level student with strong academic standing. - No specific certifications required, though knowledge of ferrous microstructures and heat‑treatment fundamentals is preferred.
