**Job Title:** Director of Business Development
**Role Summary:**
Lead the Business Development function for a defined European territory, driving the expansion of the company’s discovery and development services portfolio. The role combines strategic planning with hands‑on market activation—generating leads, qualifying prospects, negotiating deals, and nurturing long‑term client relationships to achieve top‑line growth.
**Expectations:**
- Deliver new‑business revenue targets in Europe, focusing on Biotech, Large Pharma, and Academic partners.
- Own and execute the full BD lifecycle: market research, demand generation, RFP/contract handling, pricing, negotiation, and deal closure.
- Maintain proactive engagement with existing accounts for cross‑sell and upsell opportunities.
- Represent the organization at industry conferences, events, and marketing activities to strengthen brand presence.
- Provide accurate, timely reporting (MIS, weekly updates) and maintain detailed records in Salesforce.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Conduct market intelligence and competitor analysis to identify high‑potential clients.
- Generate and qualify inbound and outbound leads; drive outreach campaigns and secure client meetings.
- Lead RFP responses, NDA/ MSA drafting, technical and financial negotiations, and final contract signing.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (science, operations, finance) to shape proposals and pricing strategies.
- Manage existing client portfolios, ensuring satisfaction and identifying expansion opportunities.
- Represent the company in external forums, build professional networks, and gather feedback for service improvement.
- Track and report sales metrics, pipeline status, and forecast performance using Salesforce and other tools.
**Required Skills:**
- 5–15 years in life‑science or pharma industry with at least 5 years in senior BD or commercial leadership.
- Proven experience in biotech CRO, large pharma, academia, or pharma manufacturing environments.
- Deep understanding of drug discovery stages: medicinal chemistry, biology, DMPK, structural biology, and CDMO/ GMP manufacturing.
- Expertise in deal structuring, contract drafting, and negotiation.
- Strong strategic thinking, market segmentation, and opportunity prioritization.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder‑management skills.
- Proficient in Salesforce CRM, MS Office, and data‑driven reporting.
- Ability to thrive in a matrixed, multicultural organization; self‑motivated and resourceful.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or related field (MBA or advanced business/strategic degree preferred).
- Professional certifications in sales or business development (e.g., Certified Professional Sales Person) are an asset but not mandatory.
