Job Title: Senior Backend Engineer (Toronto or Montreal remote)
Job Description: **Job Title** Senior Backend Engineer **Role Summary** Design, build, and maintain the backend infrastructure for an AI‑powered observability platform focused on high‑throughput customer support in travel and transport. Lead API development, data ingestion pipelines, and scalable services in Go, ensuring performance, reliability, and security. Collaborate with product, AI, and frontend teams to deliver customer‑centric features under fast‑moving startup conditions. **Expactations** - Own end‑to‑end delivery of core backend systems. - Drive architecture decisions that directly influence business outcomes. - Rapidly learn and apply new technologies while maintaining quality standards. - Communicate progress, trade‑offs, and strategy clearly to stakeholders. **Key Responsibilities** - Architect and implement high‑throughput APIs and microservices in Go. - Design data ingestion, storage, and indexing pipelines for large volumes of support events. - Integrate SQL databases and ensure efficient querying and data integrity. - Apply observability, logging, and monitoring best practices. - Write comprehensive documentation of design decisions and system behavior. - Lead agile planning, daily stand‑ups, and iterative delivery with a small engineering team. - Collaborate with product, AI, and frontend engineers to shape feature scope and timelines. - Maintain system stability, security, and performance under production load. **Required Skills** - 3+ years of backend engineering with proven production delivery. - Deep proficiency in Go (Golang) and concurrent programming. - Strong knowledge of distributed systems, microservices, and API design. - Experience with SQL databases and data modeling. - Ability to design and scale real‑time data pipelines. - Familiarity with containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP). - Excellent written and verbal communication; adept at stakeholder engagement. **Bonus Skills** - Exposure to LLM infrastructure, agentic AI workflows, or AI product development. - Prior startup experience or founding engineer role. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent professional experience). - Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Go certification) are a plus but not mandatory.
