Job Description
**Job Title:** SOC Analyst Intern **Role Summary:** Provide hands‑on support in a security operations center, assisting with monitoring, incident response, threat intelligence, and governance. Collaborate with senior analysts to detect and analyze security events, contribute to SOC playbooks, and participate in compliance and risk assessment activities. **Expectations:** - Deliver a final presentation summarizing internship experience and key learnings. - Maintain accurate documentation and follow established SOC procedures. **Key Responsibilities:** - **Security Monitoring:** Observe network traffic, system logs, and SIEM alerts; identify threats. - **Incident Response Support:** Investigate alerts, document incidents, assist with mitigation and post‑incident reports. - **Threat Intelligence:** Collect, analyze, and share threat data; contribute to briefings. - **Documentation & Reporting:** Record incident details, update SOC playbooks, and produce workflow documentation. - **Tool Operation:** Gain proficiency with firewalls, IDS/IPS, EPP, vulnerability scanners, and SIEM systems. - **Governance & Compliance:** Study policies, draft cybersecurity procedures, perform gap assessments for frameworks like HIPAA, ISO 27001, SOC 2. - **Risk Management:** Identify threats, evaluate impact, and write risk assessment reports. - **Security Awareness:** Assist in creating awareness materials for staff. **Required Skills:** - Strong verbal and written communication. - Critical thinking and problem‑solving. - Ability to work collaboratively within a team. **Desired Skills:** - Technical writing. - Familiarity with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office 365. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Minimum: High School Diploma (or equivalent). - No specific certifications required at this stage.
