**Job Title** Data Engineering Manager **Role Summary** Lead and grow a cross‑functional data engineering team (5‑8 engineers) to design, build, and maintain a scalable, decentralized data platform. Partner with product, operations, finance, and marketing stakeholders to deliver trustworthy, business‑ready data services and support AI/ML initiatives. Drive continuous improvement in performance, cost efficiency, and delivery quality while fostering a culture of engineering best practices and innovation. **Expectations** - Build and manage a high‑performance data engineering squad. - Own recruitment, coaching, and career development for team members. - Collaborate with product managers to translate OKRs into actionable data initiatives and technical roadmaps. - Influence architecture and standards across the technical organization. - Champion data governance, quality, and architectural alignment with business needs. **Key Responsibilities** - Recruit, onboard, and retain top data engineering talent. - Define project scope, milestones, and success metrics in partnership with product and business stakeholders. - Oversee design decisions, code quality, and system reliability under the principal engineer’s guidance. - Promote best practices in software development lifecycle, CI/CD, and infrastructure‑as‑code. - Lead standardization efforts in people, process, and technology across the data domain. - Drive continuous improvement of key metrics: business value, cost efficiency, speed, and delivery quality. - Facilitate knowledge sharing, technical exploration, and innovative experimentation within the team. - Manage cross‑functional communication and ensure actionable simplicity in complex technical discussions. **Required Skills** - Proven experience building and leading data/analytics engineering teams in enterprise environments. - Expertise in building platforms-as-a-product with agile delivery. - Strong technical foundation: Snowflake, AWS services (Kinesis, SNS, SQS, S3, ECS, Lambda), Python, DBT, Airflow, Terraform, CI/CD (GitHub Actions/Jenkins). - Ability to make defensible technical decisions from data ingestion to consumption. - Excellent communication, coaching, and stakeholder‑management skills. - Familiarity with data governance, quality tools (e.g., Collate, Monte Carlo). **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or a related STEM discipline. - Relevant certifications (e.g., Snowflake Certified Data Engineer, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Terraform Certified Associate) are a plus but not mandatory.
