Job Description
**Job Title:** Drive Tester **Role Summary:** Ensure Mobile Network Operators have accurate network performance data for 2G-5G voice, data, and service optimization via field testing and analysis. **Expactations:** Contract-based role requiring field work with provided vehicle and equipment. Must adhere to safety protocols and deliver consistent data collection. Flexibility for extended workdays, weekends, and temporary relocations. **Key Responsibilities:** - Conduct 2G-5G network drive tests using Accuver XCAL, PCTel scanners, and dual SIM configurations (eSIM/physical SIM). - Execute route testing (stationary, indoor, special scenarios) and log KPIs (signal strength, throughput, latency, call rates). - Develop XCAL/XCAL Mobile scripts for automated testing and validate device calibration/setup. - Analyze live logs for anomalies, troubleshoot testing equipment (smartphones, scanners, GPS), and upload/backup data files. - Collaborate with RF engineers for post-processing and reporting; maintain test documentation. - Manage project-specific voice/data testing programs, ensuring alignment with specifications. - Handle vehicle/equipment maintenance, damage checks, and attend daily team meetings. - Escalate technical issues via fault management processes and provide first-line equipment support. **Required Skills:** - Proficiency in Accuver XCAL scripting and mobile network testing. - Strong Microsoft Excel skills and basic computer literacy (Windows, satellite navigation). - Map reading and UK geographical knowledge. - Valid driver’s license with good driving record. - Communication skills (written, verbal) and report documentation accuracy. - Physical fitness for walk testing (carrying test equipment). - Adaptability to shifting priorities and independent work execution. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Demonstrated practical knowledge of telecom networks (2G-5G) and device/protocol configurations. - Driver’s license mandatory. Certification in network testing tools (e.g., XCAL) preferred but not mandatory.
