Job Description
Job Title: Healthcare Security Manager Role Summary: Leads and develops a multidisciplinary security team to maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff in a healthcare setting. Expactations: Demonstrate strategic leadership, uphold regulatory compliance, support clinical staff during incidents, and ensure continuous improvement of security operations. Key Responsibilities: - Lead and manage security supervisors and officers, overseeing shift scheduling and workforce performance. - Coordinate with clinical teams, senior management, and external agencies (police, emergency services) to address safety concerns. - Manage incident response, conduct preliminary investigations, and produce post‑incident reports. - Administer payroll, performance appraisals, and compliance documentation. - Ensure adherence to healthcare security standards, mental health legislation, and counter‑terrorism regulations. - Support de‑escalation efforts and, when necessary, supervise patient restraint under statutory guidance. - Oversee CCTV and other surveillance systems, ensuring proper operation and maintenance. - Foster a welcoming environment across all hospital grounds, addressing any safety or conduct issues. Required Skills: - Proven leadership and supervisory experience in a healthcare or high‑stakes security environment. - Strong communication, empathy, and verbal de‑escalation capabilities. - Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing operational demands. - Proficiency in computer systems, digital reporting tools, and security management software. - Knowledge of healthcare regulatory frameworks (e.g., health and safety, patient care standards) and mental health legislation. Required Education & Certifications: - Valid SIA security license (licensed status). - Minimum of a secondary education certificate or equivalent; a degree in security management, healthcare administration, or related field is preferred. - Continuous professional development in healthcare security, relevant safety training, or certifications in crisis management is an advantage.
