**Job Title**: Linux System Administrator
**Role Summary**:
Provide and evolve a modern DevOps architecture for a multi‑segment computing arena, ensuring high availability, performance, and security across physical and virtual infrastructure. Lead the design, implementation, and support of servers, networking, storage, and security controls to meet continuous operational excellence for integrated discovery activities.
**Expactations**:
- Maintain and enhance a large heterogeneous environment (servers, VMs, switches, NAS, VLANs, VPNs).
- Manage secure infrastructure lifecycle, including patching, vulnerability remediation, backups, and compliance with RMF, Netseer, SEAR logging, and related frameworks.
- Deliver migration strategies to new technologies with minimal service disruption.
- Provide proactive monitoring and incident response using open‑source tools.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation (network diagrams, asset inventories, runbooks).
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (RedHat/CentOS) and network devices (managed switches, routers).
- Configure routing protocols, firewall rules, VPNs, and VLANs; troubleshoot connectivity, latency, and throughput issues.
- Administer security policies, perform vulnerability assessments (OpenVAS), and enforce SELinux/FIPS compliance.
- Deploy and maintain web services (nginx), databases (MongoDB, ElasticSearch), and container platforms (Docker).
- Implement IaC and automation (Ansible, GitLab CI/CD) for infrastructure provisioning and configuration management.
- Conduct system upgrades, patching, and disaster‑recovery drills.
- Collaborate with developers and analysts for user‑level support, resolving system and networking incidents.
- Prepare monthly operational reports, including outage analysis and performance metrics.
**Required Skills**:
- 11+ years of experience administering enterprise Linux environments.
- Advanced networking knowledge: routing protocols, firewall configuration, VPNs, VLANs.
- Proficiency with Linux security: SELinux, FIPS, hardening, vulnerability management.
- Experience with open-source DevOps tools: Ansible, GitLab CI/CD, Docker, Prometheus, Grafana.
- Familiarity with database solutions (MongoDB, ElasticSearch) and container orchestration.
- Strong scripting ability (Bash, Python).
- Ability to document complex systems and maintain operational runbooks.
- Experience with security compliance frameworks (RMF, Netseer, SEAR logging).
**Required Education & Certifications**:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- Active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., RedHat Certified Engineer, Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Security+) are advantageous but not mandatory.
