Senior Technical Architect – Aviation
**Role Summary**
Lead the development and delivery of enterprise‑level technical architecture for large‑scale aviation infrastructure projects. Drive design, integration, and operational standards to ensure high‑availability, security, and regulatory compliance across complex systems that support airport operations, air traffic control, and passenger services.
**Expectations**
- Deliver a coherent, scalable architectural vision that aligns technical solutions with business objectives and safety regulations.
- Influence cross‑functional teams and executive stakeholders to adopt best practices and emerging technologies.
- Maintain governance over architecture artifacts, ensuring alignment with industry standards and project timelines.
- Mentor and evaluate architects and engineers, fostering continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Design and document technical architecture for airport expansion, including middleware, data platforms, network infrastructure, and integration with air traffic services.
- Conduct architecture reviews, risk assessments, and feasibility studies for new capabilities such as IoT, AI/ML analytics, and digital twins.
- Define performance, scalability, security, and resilience requirements, ensuring compliance with aviation authorities (e.g., FAA, EASA, ICAO).
- Collaborate with system integrators, vendors, and regulatory bodies to validate design specifications and certification pathways.
- Oversee implementation of architecture frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman) and develop architectural roadmaps and release plans.
- Facilitate architecture workshops, demos, and knowledge transfer sessions for stakeholders and development teams.
- Continuously monitor industry trends, regulatory updates, and technological advancements to refine architecture strategies.
**Required Skills**
- 10+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, system integration, or technical leadership roles within aviation, aerospace, or large‑scale infrastructure.
- Proven expertise in designing high‑availability, secure, and compliant systems for air traffic control, passenger processing, and operational support.
- Strong knowledge of aviation standards (e.g., DO‑178C, DO‑254, DO‑280C) and regulatory frameworks (ICAO Annex 10, FAA Part 99).
- Proficiency in architecture modeling tools (e.g., ArchiMate, Enterprise Architect) and diagramming standards.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and hybrid deployment models, including data residency and latency considerations.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and influence skills—capable of presenting complex concepts to technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Ability to evaluate and recommend technology solutions, vendors, and integration approaches, ensuring alignment with long‑term strategy.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Relevant certifications: TOGAF, PMP, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or equivalent.
- Aviation‑specific certifications (such as ATB – Aircraft Technical Bulletin, or equivalents) or demonstrable experience with aviation‑specific standards is highly desirable.
