Job Description
**Job Title** Algorithm Scientist – Summer Intern **Role Summary** Three- to four‑month research internship focused on developing signal‑processing and machine‑learning algorithms for wearable health‑sensing hardware. The intern will collaborate with data scientists, hardware engineers, and firmware teams to prototype, evaluate, and benchmark new health‑sensing features using real sensor data. **Expectations** - Conduct research and prototype algorithms over a 3–4 month period. - Support internal data collection, experiment design, and performance evaluation. - Analyze experimental data, document findings, and present actionable recommendations. - Work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams to incorporate sensing constraints into algorithm design. - Maintain code quality and version control using git. **Key Responsibilities** 1. Prototype signal‑processing and machine‑learning methods for new health‑sensing features. 2. Design and execute internal data‑collection protocols for algorithm validation. 3. Analyze experimental results to assess signal behavior, identify limitations, and quantify algorithm performance. 4. Prepare technical documentation, summaries, and presentations for multidisciplinary stakeholders. 5. Collaborate with hardware and firmware teams to understand sensor constraints and assess feasibility of algorithms. **Required Skills** - Proficient in Python with experience in scientific/machine‑learning libraries (NumPy, pandas, scikit‑learn, PyTorch, or equivalent). - Familiarity with code collaboration tools (git). - Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret experimental data. - Effective written and verbal communication, capable of explaining technical concepts to non‑technical audiences. - Demonstrated enthusiasm for hands‑on experimentation and rapid iteration. **Required Education & Certifications** - Current enrollment in a Master’s or PhD program in biomedical engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, biostatistics, or a closely related discipline. - Coursework or practical experience in signal processing and machine learning. ---
