Job Title:
DBT Cloud Data Engineer (Snowflake, Azure)
Role Summary:
Design, develop, and maintain data models and pipelines using DBT Cloud. Optimize Snowflake data warehouse performance, monitor costs, and ensure robust data governance across multiple domains within a regulated insurance environment.
Expectations:
• Own end‑to‑end data transformation workflows in DBT.
• Deliver reliable, maintainable code that meets performance and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering, Analytics, and DevOps to implement CI/CD and automation.
• Actively participate in agile ceremonies and provide thoughtful technical input.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, test, and deploy DBT models, macros, and documentation.
- Design and optimize Snowflake schemas, warehouses, and security settings.
- Implement data lineage, star/snowflake schema models, and SCD handling.
- Monitor and manage Snowflake cost, usage metrics, and environment lifecycle.
- Integrate DBT workflows with Azure Data Factory, Synapse, and Databricks.
- Configure and maintain CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps for automated testing and deployment.
- Ensure data quality and integrity through comprehensive testing and validation.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Maintain governance, security, and compliance standards for financial/insurance data.
Required Skills
- Deep expertise in DBT Cloud: model creation, macros, tests, documentation, CI/CD.
- Hands‑on experience with Snowflake: schema design, warehouse configuration, performance tuning, security, time travel, cost monitoring.
- Proficiency in SQL for complex analytical transformations.
- Strong data modelling knowledge (star/snowflake schemas, SCD, lineage).
- Experience with Azure ecosystem: Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks, and Azure DevOps.
- Comfortable working in agile teams and using DevOps tools for CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with data governance, compliance, and security best practices.
Required Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications such as SnowPro Core or Snowflake Technical Specialist preferred.
- DBT certification or proven professional experience in DBT Cloud (no longer required, but advantageous).
