Job Description
Job title: Staff Data Scientist Role Summary: Lead advanced statistical and machine learning initiatives on safety-critical data for autonomous vehicle technology. Own end-to-end design of metrics, models, and data pipelines that directly inform safety decisions and regulatory compliance. Expectations: - Deliver high‑impact, reproducible data science solutions that measure, analyze, and improve vehicle safety performance. - Mentor junior analysts; set technical standards for code quality, data governance, and scalable workflows. - Communicate complex findings to engineering, product, and executive stakeholders, translating technical insights into actionable recommendations. Key Responsibilities: 1. Design, develop, and validate safety metrics, probability models, and performance indicators. 2. Analyze large on‑road and simulation datasets to characterize safety events and risk factors. 3. Build and maintain safety‑performance data pipelines, integrating with engineering and V&V processes. 4. Partner with cross‑functional teams to support product decisions, verify metrics, and inform risk‑based design. 5. Lead code reviews, documentation, and data‑science best‑practice initiatives. 6. Present technical reports, dashboards, and concise executive summaries. Required Skills: - 5+ years in data science or analytics with deep Python expertise (numpy, pandas, scikit‑learn, PyTorch). - Advanced SQL and relational database experience (PostgreSQL or similar). - End‑to‑end pipeline development; proficiency in ETL/ELT, DBT, and big‑data engines. - Strong statistical modeling and probability assessment for safety performance. - Knowledge of safety‑engineering concepts, risk evaluation, and functional‑safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262). - Excellent communication; ability to explain technical outcomes to non‑technical audiences. Required Education & Certifications: - Master’s or Ph.D. in Statistics, Computer Science, Operations Research, Economics, or related quantitative discipline. - Professional certifications in data science or safety engineering are a plus.
