Job Description
**Job Title:** CNC Programmer **Role Summary:** Experienced CNC Programmer/Operator responsible for developing, setting up, and operating multi‑axis CNC equipment to produce precision components and prototypes for R&D and production. Leads small cost‑out projects, ensures part quality, and supports continuous‑improvement initiatives. **Expectations:** - Minimum 8 years CNC programming and operation experience. - Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T specifications. - Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor and other CAD/CAM tools. - Strong troubleshooting, process‑optimization, and mentorship capabilities. - Commitment to safety, documentation, and quality standards. **Key Responsibilities:** - Develop, program, and operate CNC mills/turns for prototype and production parts. - Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and solid models; collaborate with design engineers. - Perform in‑process inspections; verify tolerances, document results, and maintain traceability. - Diagnose machining issues; implement process improvements for accuracy, efficiency, and repeatability. - Lead small development and cost‑reduction projects using Autodesk Inventor to modify designs and reduce material/labor costs. - Provide training and technical support to R&D and shop personnel on tooling, materials, and best practices. - Maintain equipment, perform calibration, and assist with setup verification. - Contribute to vendor selection, tooling purchases, and capital equipment justification. - Serve as backup for test‑support tasks as priorities shift. **Required Skills:** - Expert knowledge of CNC machining principles, G‑code, and multi‑axis operations. - Strong understanding of mechanical design, GD&T, material properties, and manufacturing methods. - Proficient in reading detailed engineering drawings and schematics. - Skilled in Autodesk Inventor and other CAD/CAM platforms for modeling and toolpath generation. - Quality assurance techniques for dimensional verification. - Excellent troubleshooting and process‑optimization abilities. - Effective communication and mentorship skills. **Required Education & Certifications:** - High School Diploma (minimum). - Associate degree in a technical field or machine operation preferred. - Relevant certifications (e.g., CNC Programming, GD&T, ISO/ASQ quality) advantageous but not mandatory.
