Job Description

Job Description
**Job Title:** Payroll Processing Specialist **Role Summary:** Responsible for full‑cycle payroll processing for salaried and hourly employees across Canada and the United States. Reports to the Payroll Supervisor and ensures accurate, timely payroll execution, compliance, and documentation while supporting executive compensation, year‑end activities, and continuous process improvement. **Expectations:** - Deliver precise payroll runs on semi‑monthly and weekly schedules. - Resolve payroll errors and systemic issues promptly. - Maintain high data integrity, attention to detail, and audit‑ready documentation. - Meet tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities simultaneously. - Communicate effectively with HR, management, and external partners (e.g., ADP). **Key Responsibilities:** - Process salary and hourly payroll (including on/off‑cycle runs) for Canadian and US staff. - Administer executive compensation and off‑cycle payments. - Reconcile payroll, run audit reports, and validate results before transmission. - Handle terminations, ROE issuance, garnishments, recalls, reversals, voids, and year‑end adjustments. - Maintain key control and audit documentation; document all payroll procedures. - Identify and implement process efficiencies and improvements. - Provide second‑level escalation support for payroll and time‑transaction issues. - Liaise with ADP and coordinate with Payroll Accounting on GL variances. - Register payroll tax accounts and manage gross‑up/shadow payrolls. - Respond to employee pay‑stub inquiries and support HR data integration. - Assist with ad‑hoc projects and administrative tasks as assigned. **Required Skills:** - CPA Payroll designation (or equivalent) completed. - Extensive experience with SAP HCM & Payroll modules. - Strong technical troubleshooting ability for payroll processing errors. - Advanced analytical and problem‑solving skills. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Business Objects. - Knowledge of US and international payroll regulations (preferred). - Excellent written and verbal communication; strong organizational skills. - Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Post‑secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred). - CPA Payroll designation (mandatory). - Additional certifications in payroll, tax, or HR systems are advantageous.
