Job Description
**Job Title** Site Reliability Engineer 1 **Role Summary** Support and maintain high‑availability cloud‑based services for a public‑sector technology provider. Work closely with software engineering teams to ensure reliability, scalability, and performance of production systems. **Expectations** - Deliver 24/7 production support through scheduled on‑call shifts. - Resolve incidents quickly, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventative fixes. - Automate routine operations to increase efficiency and reduce manual errors. - Contribute to system design improvements and capacity planning. - Maintain clear, up‑to‑date documentation and knowledge bases. **Key Responsibilities** - Monitor application, infrastructure, and network health; respond to alerts and incidents. - Provide on‑call production support and handle troubleshooting of live issues. - Manage and resolve tickets raised by internal teams and customers (e.g., data corrections, configuration changes). - Develop and run automation scripts (Python, Bash, etc.) for provisioning, deployment, and maintenance. - Collaborate with software engineers to review architecture, provide feedback, and support release workflows. - Conduct post‑incident reviews and update runbooks/FAQs. - Assist with capacity planning, performance tuning, and scalability studies. - Apply security best practices to protect systems and data. **Required Skills** - Proficient in Linux/Unix administration and networking concepts. - Experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud). - Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, Bash, or equivalent). - Familiarity with monitoring/alerting tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, etc.). - Solid understanding of incident response, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting. - Excellent written communication for documentation and process creation. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent hands‑on experience. - Relevant cloud or DevOps certifications preferred (e.g., AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, Azure Fundamentals, GCP Associate Cloud Engineer).
