**Job Title:**
User Experience Designer (Contract)
**Role Summary:**
Design and deliver user-centered digital experiences for government and public‑sector clients. Conduct user research, create visual designs, develop interactive prototypes, and ensure accessibility compliance while collaborating within Agile (Scrum) teams. Hybrid work (Toronto‑based with remote flexibility).
**Expectations:**
- Deliver high‑quality UX artifacts on schedule.
- Iterate designs efficiently based on feedback and testing.
- Communicate design rationale clearly to stakeholders.
- Support change‑management initiatives throughout project phases (Discovery to Live).
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Conduct user research, interviews, and usability testing; produce interview scripts, topic maps, synthesis reports, and research findings.
- Apply design thinking and mobile‑first, responsive design principles to create wireframes, mockups, and high‑fidelity prototypes.
- Collaborate with product owners, developers, and other designers in Scrum ceremonies; contribute to backlog refinement and sprint reviews.
- Facilitate accessibility compliance testing and incorporate findings.
- Manage stakeholder relationships, mediate feedback, and drive consensus on design decisions.
- Prepare and deliver presentations, design documentation, and user‑friendly content.
**Required Skills:**
- UX design tools: Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Cloud, InVision, Axure, JustInMind, Zeplin.
- Prototyping and interaction design; ability to iterate rapidly.
- User research methods, usability testing, and accessibility standards (WCAG).
- Agile (Scrum) workflow experience.
- Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities.
- Basic front‑end knowledge (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/React/Angular/NodeJS) – a plus.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, Human‑Computer Interaction, or related field.
- Additional certification in usability, UX, or technical writing is advantageous.
