SPQD Engineer – CDS Interiors (M/F)
Role Summary
Lead the Supplier Product Quality Development (SPQD) for railway interior components, ensuring supplier processes and products meet Alstom’s dimensional, functional, visual, and compliance standards. Own the DFQ cycle, drive process validation, tooling set‑up, first‑article inspection, and contractual documentation, coordinating with suppliers and internal teams to deliver high‑quality parts for serial production.
Expectations
• Deliver end‑to‑end product concept validation and supplier manufacturing validation.
• Maintain rigorous quality assurance for all first‑batch deliveries and oversee handover to serial production.
• Provide expertise in metallic component design, manufacturing, and special processes.
• Travel up to 50% of time (France, Europe, Turkey, India, China).
Key Responsibilities
1. Product Concept Validation
- Assess product design for manufacturing feasibility and quality robustness.
- Identify key dimensional, functional, and visual characteristics and verify consistency with tooling.
- Evaluate manufacturing capabilities of selected suppliers.
- Incorporate Return‑of‑Experience feedback into design reviews.
2. Supplier Product Industrial Development
- Conduct product process validation at supplier sites (Go‑Production authorisation).
- Validate manufacturing processes for repeatability and conformity.
- Set up industrial tooling and verify special processes (bonding, welding, painting).
- Ensure readiness of sub‑supplier components (extrusion, casting, glass).
3. Quality Assurance & Delivery Management
- Perform first‑article inspections; approve first‑shipment to Alstom sites.
- Review contractual documentation and comply with customer requirements.
- Administer quality assurance for initial deliveries, then transition to serial production QA.
4. Metallic Commodity Specialist
- Define and promote standard metallic solutions to engineering teams.
- Act as key member of metallic commodity network.
Required Skills
• 3–5 years in Production Management, Product Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
• Mechanical Engineering background with deep knowledge of metallic products/processes (aluminium, stainless steel, sheet metal, honeycomb, casting).
• Proficiency in special processes: bonding, welding, painting.
• Strong problem‑solving (8D, QRQC) and risk analysis (FMEA).
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership aptitude.
• Fluent English (written & spoken).
• Ability to work in a multi‑site, international environment; willingness to travel.
Required Education & Certifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
• Professional certifications in quality management (e.g., Six Sigma, ISO 9001 Lead Auditor) are an advantage but not mandatory.
