We are an IT Consultancy and Managed Services company in Edinburgh with offices in London, Founded by Charles Scott, and Andrew Watson in 1999

We have successful Enterprise Consulting, Managed Services, and Application Development teams, underpinned by a strong PMO function to oversee, and deliver all our projects successfully.

In 2018 it was announced that Quorum was going to become an employee-owned company, which became official in March 2019.

Our values are a natural progression of how Quorum has grown and evolved and is driven by behaviours from the leadership team and every one of our employees.

Job Description
**Job Title** Junior SQL DBA **Role Summary** Support and maintain Microsoft SQL Server environments, executing routine DBA activities while developing expertise in database management, performance tuning, and security. **Expectations** - Rapidly learn SQL Server best practices and company infrastructure. - Deliver reliable database support and contribute to continuous improvement projects. - Collaborate with senior DBAs and cross‑functional teams to resolve issues and implement enhancements. **Key Responsibilities** - Perform regular database backups, restores, and point‑in‑time recovery tests. - Monitor database performance using SQL Server DMVs, Windows Performance Monitor, and alerting tools; identify and remediate bottlenecks. - Apply patches, updates, and Service Pack releases in a controlled, documented manner. - Implement and maintain database security (logins, roles, permissions, encryption). - Create and maintain PowerShell or SSIS scripts for routine tasks (backup schedules, performance reporting). - Assist in database provisioning, capacity planning, and resource allocation. - Document procedures, configurations, and incident resolutions. - Participate in incident response, root‑cause analysis, and post‑mortem reviews. **Required Skills** - Proficiency in SQL Server (2016 +), T‑SQL query writing, and basic database design concepts. - Knowledge of Windows Server administration, file system permissions, and network basics. - Experience with backup strategies, point‑in‑time recovery, and SQL Server Agent jobs. - Familiarity with performance monitoring and tuning techniques (indexes, query plans). - Basic scripting skills in PowerShell or VBScript for automation. - Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication abilities. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent technical experience. - Microsoft certification preferred (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Fundamentals, Microsoft Certified: SQL Server Database Administrator Associate).
