Job Description
Job title: Software Engineering Co‑op Role Summary: Assist in accelerating engineering velocity by implementing AI‑augmented development tools and building a unified end‑to‑end environment, while collaborating with senior engineers on product delivery and infrastructure. Expactations: 3‑4 month contract start ASAP, remaining in Vancouver as required. Deliver measurable improvements in tool adoption and workflow efficiency, and present findings to engineering leadership. Key Responsibilities: • Design and deploy a production‑ready development environment integrated with GitHub and AI coding assistants (Cursor, Devin, etc.). • Conduct experiments evaluating AI tool impact on code quality, bug resolution, and feature delivery; report results and feasibility to senior engineering staff. • Work closely with engineers and the VP of Engineering to implement small bug fixes and new product features, applying best practices in coding, design, testing, and DevOps. • Maintain and enhance AWS‑based infrastructure and database access as needed. • Provide documentation and training materials for new tooling workflows. Required Skills: • Proficient in Python programming. • Understanding of RESTful APIs, relational and NoSQL databases. • Experience using Git, GitHub workflows, and standard software development lifecycle processes. • Familiarity with AI‑assisted coding or willingness to learn tools such as Cursor or Devin. • Strong problem‑solving, self‑direction, and communication abilities; comfortable working in a rapidly evolving environment. Required Education & Certifications: • Current enrollment in 3rd or 4th year of a Computer Science or related degree program.
