Job Description
**Job title:** Instrument Engineer – Urgent **Role Summary:** Provide design, engineering, and technical documentation for instrument and electrical systems on an offshore oil & gas FPSO/FSO project. Engage in design reviews, load calculations, and integration of PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems while ensuring compliance with international codes and standards. **Expectations:** - Initiate work from the start of the contract (Nov 2025). - Deliver high‑quality design and documentation in a time‑critical offshore environment. - Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, vendors, and inspectors to resolve technical issues. **Key Responsibilities:** 1. **Design & Engineering** - Develop Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), cable block diagrams, routing layouts, instrument loop drawings, hook‑up drawings, and wiring schematics. - Create lighting, earthing, and power distribution layouts. - Generate I/O lists and cause‑and‑effect diagrams. - Perform load calculations, voltage‑drop analyses, and short‑circuit studies. - Design control and automation systems (PLC, DCS, SCADA) for offshore application. - Ensure adherence to IEC, ATEX, API, BS, NORSOK, and other relevant codes. - Prepare and update Bills of Materials (BOMs) and equipment specifications. 2. **Technical Documentation** - Produce and review datasheets, specifications, and material requisitions for motors, transformers, MCCs, transmitters, analyzers, control panels, etc. - Support Functional Design Specifications (FDS) and Control Narratives. - Review vendor drawings, test procedures, and GA drawings for approval. - Maintain strict document control and revision tracking. 3. **Interface & Coordination** - Coordinate with process, mechanical, piping, and structural disciplines for seamless integration. - Act as liaison with vendors, third‑party inspectors, and clients to address technical queries and ensure compliance. **Required Skills:** - Proficiency in electrical and instrumentation design (SLDs, cable blocks, wiring schematics). - Experience with PLC, DCS, SCADA integration. - Strong knowledge of load calculations, voltage‑drop, short‑circuit analysis. - Familiarity with IEC, ATEX, API, BS, NORSOK standards. - Ability to produce and review BOMs, technical datasheets, FDS, and control narratives. - Excellent document control and revision management. - Effective communication and coordination with multidisciplinary teams and vendors. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or related engineering discipline. - Relevant professional certification in Instrumentation or Electrical Engineering (e.g., IEC, API) preferred. - Prior experience in the oil & gas sector, particularly with FPSO/FSO projects, is desirable.
